Wii Fit Takes Exergaming To The Board

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto showed up at this week's E3 to demonstrate a brand-new fitness game called Wii Fit and while I wasn't present, I'm pretty excited about the idea. The game looks like it will be similar to the ever popular mat game Dance Dance Revolution, and will take measurements of your body and plot your fitness levels over time. Apparently, if you're feeling a little cocky you can even plot your stats against your friends'.

According to Technabob, the small, flat controller, called the “Wii Balance Board,” lays on the ground and detects your body movements as you exercise. It can also measure your body mass index to show you your progress as you regularly work out. Looks like FitSugar and I are going to have a new obsession! To watch a video preview of the game, read more

OK, I tried every single European capital as a departure city and it said that that city is not in their database...
Guess this site just for US people?

And a message keeps popping up: This is beta version, bla bla

The idea is great, but they need to work on this technical small things Smiling

I'm really excited about this. Since it can detect shifts in your balance, imagine a skateboarding or surfing game where you lean back and forth to control your onscreen character.

I can't wait for Wii Fit! I love Wii Sports, too, you can really get a good workout on the boxing.

I agree with the above posts. T wouldn't compare this to Dance Dance Revolution but to WiiSports. This is great, it's like having a personal trainer.

Watching that video makes me glad that I own a Wii.

Most of the games offer a little bit of a work out anyway but having a game and that miraculous balance board will be fantastic. But even playing a game not associated with working out like Rayman: Raving Rabids is a tough work out for your arms and incredibly fun to boot.

The Wii is just about the most perfect gaming system. There are brain games, exercise games and just pure fun games... Can anyone tell I LOVE the Wii? Smiling

I'd love to get a wii, but haven't sprung for it yet. I think a great alternative is a last gen system (XBOX, PS2) and a BodyPad controller.

I've posted a blog with some videos using the the BodyPad fighting system. It's similar to the Wii in that you can throw real punches to throw punches in-game, but different in that it works with PS2 and XBOX. It also allows for kicks so that you can control most fighting games.

These are all games I own and play regularly with the BodyPad system. 19 games so far.
    - Capcom Classic Collection
    - Dead or Alive 3
    - Def Jam: Fight for NY
    - Dynasty Warriors 4
    - Fight Club
    - Fight Night 2004
    - Guilty Gear X2
    - Knockout Kings 2002
    - Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
    - Metal Slug 3
    - Midway Arcade Treasures 2
    - Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
    - Ninja Gaiden
    - Rocky
    - Rocky: Legends
    - Soul Caliber 2
    - Tao Feng
    - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles
    - X-Men Legends
