Luxurious Geek: iPod Shuffle Dipped in Gold

There is something inherently wrong with coating something that's originally worth $79 in gold. When that something is an already brightly colored shuffle, which only has one gigabyte of flash memory, it's just plain ridiculous. Of course, that kind of reasoning never stopped anyone. Born Rich uncovered news that Germany's Xexoo is offering an iPod Shuffle covered in 18 carat gold for 14,000 EUR, or $10,000 USD. As if that wasn't enough, if you want your little shuffle to have diamonds you'll soon be in luck, as they are adding bling bling as an upgrade.
It always gets better, doesn't it?

It seems that everything has to be dipped in gold these days! Yeah, it looks kinda cool, but it's not worth the price tag in my opinion. Plus it's going to look terrible as soon as I get my fingerprints all over it!

the gold coat doesn't justify the price. You can buy all kinds of connectors that are gold plated and they do cost more then ordinary ones but not 14.000 €uros Shocked
Gold is not that expensive this days
(connectors that are gold plated offer better transfer so it's not for vanity, but it actually has purpose)

I'll just color mine with a gold paint pen and it will be indistinguishable!

its pretty but im sure one could be made to look the same (without real gold) and look as shiny for a LOT less money. plus, whats wrong with a pretty blue shuffle?

I don't get the hype with ipods I find them to be hard to control, and ipod shuffles are ugly to me. They're so small and plan, dipped in gold or not it's still tacky.

Why on earth would you invest $10,000 for a $79 MP3 player? It would seem like you may want to get a better MP3 player....

I´m with rachiepop on this one - I don´t like ipod´s control in particular nor apple´s control in general. Regarding ipod´s I think there´s not so much serious competion around: samsung´s control isn´t the best either, sony is expensive and zune is not available in europe.

Mr. Jobs, the Germans are putting you to shame. Dude, PLATINUM dipped iPod Shuffle. Sprinkle with glitter, diamonds and fairy dust.

10,000 USD, phhhhfft... triple it, b*tch. Call me when the first one sells, I'm expecting my cut.

I'd love a gold iPod nano, but would never pay that much for it. And the shuffles suck anyways.

Seriously ... I don't see myself using it during my subway ride (that's what ipod's are mainly for, whatever the model ... no ?), I'm pretty sure I would be killed for it before the 2nd song. Well, on another hand, when you spend that money on a gold plated ipod, I guess you do not use public transportation that much.

The new shuffles are so tiny, I would be worried that I'd lose it; but to have one that would dipped in gold is a bit crazy.

That may seem great when you get it, but one scratch on that thing and you would think about it more than all day. And if you missplaced it, you wouldn't sleep until you found it or got put on medication, because you had almost lost you mind over loosing you 10,000 tiny gold piece that you really didn't need anyway.

Uhm..I dont get it..the euro is worth more than the dollar. So how come it costs 14 000 euro but 'only' 10 000 dollars? It should be at least 16 000...but maybe it's cheaper in America.
