Here's a cool site you can use to find live local music by date and location. When you go to Gruvr, just type in your city or zip code and upcoming concerts will begin to appear on a Google map. You can also see a list of all the shows below the map where it lists the band's page, the name of the venue, as well as the address—rock on! via lifehacker

How can Bad Religion not be anywhere near LA! Sad But that aside, awesome search thing. Love watching the notes go from one city to another. Laughing out loud

    Hi!

THanks for the mention... thought I'd point out a few things:

Re 2&3 - Bad religion is here

    http://gruvr.com/band/badreligion

To get an alert next time they pass thru LA, just enter
    your email

And they are playing in - AUCKLAND!

Re main post - you shouldn't have to enter your location.
99.9% of the time, it should guess where you are, or
pretty close... right from your first visit to gruvr.com!

this would be awesome for people that live in the city. I looked up my town, and there wasn't much there!

the deal is - it gets data from myspace and a few other places, and that is where your small local bands all sign up.

So if you do have bands that play locally even in your small town, and you can find them on myspace, you can put those bands on the map and it will always keep track of them for you.

You can find the data for shows near you on myspace but it takes some work... go to music->shows (both tiny links). Then enter your zipcode, and select a distance... you'll see what's there.

Such an awesome site. Thank you!

Although... I just found out that MUSE is going to be in Budapest like 3 days after I leave, which is a bummer. LOL.

really nice to see all these positive comments about gruvr!!

danielle re muse: you missed them this time?
    not a problem.

    Just go here:
    http://gruvr.com/band/muse/

All you do is enter an email - no account needed.
Then gruvr will send you an alert when MUSE schedules a show near you - EVEN IF YOU MOVE, it will figure out where you are and where Muse is Smiling

Wed appreciate any help in spreading the word about the site which isnt exactly quite done yet.
Maybe geeksugar would want to do the first real review of it?
    who would we ask?
