Geek Tip: Use Wakerupper as a Fool-Proof Alarm

I am totally one of those people that sets two or three alarms in case one doesn't go off. I don't exactly trust my laptop as a reliable alarm source for fear it will go to sleep or shut off. And with traditional alarm clocks, you can never be sure if you set the right time or if you got the AM/PM mixed up. With Wakerupper, you'll never have to worry about sleeping in again. Featured on lifehacker, Wakerupper provides free wake-up calls (just like hotels) and reminders online. All you have to do is enter the date and time you want the call, your phone number, email and a reminder text that will play over the phone when you get the call. Wakerupper can also be used with the iPhone. I suggest changing your ringtone to something really annoying so you are guaranteed to jump out of bed as soon as it rings!Do you know a great shortcut or tip you think geeksugar readers should know? I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

  8. Click on the "Add Image" link below the "body" box
  9. A popup window will happen - click on "Browse" to find your image on your computer
  10. Once you have the image chosen, click "Submit"
  11. The popup will show you your image, choose size: "normal" - if you want, you can give it a title (which will show up as a caption)
  12. Click "Insert" and the popup will go away
  13. Your "body" box will now have some text in it. Leave it as is. If you want to add some text before the picture telling me why you think this person is geeky, do it before the code that has appeared.

Why would you want that, though? The iPhone has a perfectly fine alarm clock - and it doesn't require having a network connection to boot.

And for appointments/events, there's the calendar.

That would be nice to have, because I need heavy-duty alarms to wake me up! Otherwise I'll sleep through my wake-up time and then some!

i set this as an absolute last resort alarm for this morning, but i was so worried about having to get up early that i was up way before this call came through. i'm better at getting up when i get a phone call though, so i'll set this again for tomorrow morning and see how it goes! Smiling

They suggest on the site a few alternatives to just using it as a wake up call. i.e. they say use it to get out of a bad date/meeting. Basically you could be bored in a meeting, go online, schedule a call for five minutes later, when your phone rings say, I need to take this. And excuse yourself from the meeting. Pretty interesting.

Good one Syako! i can see women all over using it as the way to cut out on a bad date. instead of having a friend call, you can set it up by yourself!

I agree with syako, it would be best to use this with other stuff than as a wake up call. I tried it this morning, and it just made me angry... I sleepily answered the phone only to find no real person on the other end (which i knew, i just wasn't awake yet), I didn't hear the message well, it went too fast, and when I hit the button to repeat, they hung up on me. In my drowsy state I remember thinking how angry I was because someone was prank calling me, and went back to bed.
