Tis' the Season: Festive Digital Ornaments

Every year when my family puts up the Christmas tree, my mom decorates it with craft ornaments that my sisters and I made in elementary school. As much as I love my beaded red construction paper stocking, I think there are better ways to personalize the Christmas tree. Take for instance these digital ornaments that I saw on 7Gadgets. Each ornament features a 1.5-in. digital screen, an alarm, clock, and will hold up to fifty photos. You can also set the ornaments to function in slide shows. Connect via a USB cable to upload pics. Compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista and priced at $30. Give as a gift (gift box included) or use on your own tree!

Why does an ornament need an alarm? or a clock for that matter? And what about when the battery runs out? Ornaments are supposed to be for life not just 1 x-mas. Sounds like next year's garbage to me.
