USB Memory Box: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Years ago, we used to fill albums with photos and pile them high on shelves. Nowadays, we fill up USB memory sticks and keep them scattered around our workspace! TeamSugar user Calamari has just brought this USB Memory Box from dialog05 to my attention, and it's totally tech chic! Featured on Swissmiss, this USB memory box helps keeps all of your flash drives filled with pics from various events in one handy spot. Label with actual names, events, holidays, and parties for quick reference later.

Box or not, I still think they'd get lost. I'd rather have everything on one memory stick with a massive storage capacity or upload them online. And I always print out the ones that I really like and put them in a book anyways . . . I guess you could call it mixing the old with the new. What do you think about this memory box: geek or chic?

I think it is kinda stupid. How is putting flash drives in a box exciting or new? Isn't the hard part getting them all in one place whether or not they are print photos, negatives, slides, or flash drives? Plus, what is the fun of finding an old dusty box filled w/ flash drives 30 years from now. Are my grandkids going to even know what they are, let alone have a device that they can be plugged into. I'd rather them have some faded, curled at the edges, old fashioned photos for them to discover.

I like the idea of labeling the USB's, but the actual box is kinda weird.

...something that I wouldn't find particularly useful as I have one or two USB sticks and then a portable hard drive for things that would have normally gone in a photo album box.

I like this as a statement, but I don't actually think it's practical. It's kind of boring. It would be a better art piece.

We should know from experience that data storage mediums change like the tides...this'l be readable for 10 years tops. I also agree a box of flash drives isn't as warm and fuzzy as mementos or a time capsule/scrapbook. If they can't be read they're useless. And PLEASE print your photos at Costco or Shutterfly etc! Digi is so easy to lose!

why must these be used for photos? i'm surprised no one seems keen on these. i love the clear look to them and maybe you want them for different projects or clients and that way you can just take whichever one you need out and take it to your client's place?! just a thought.

My God! It's rectangular! It has four sides, a bottom, and a lid! It can be opened and closed! It's WHITE. And it can only hold one thing! USB keys! Not SD cards! Not CompactFlash! Certainly not xD, and don't even think of putting a floppy in it. That would just be gauche. So five years ago.

The USB bra is pretty hilarious though. I kind of dig the handset too.

It is more or less reflective of the box "holding memories". As each stick represents a memory or experience.. Not so much about the plain white box. Hope this clarifies!

i think its kinda boring....i think itd be more fun if it had a nice print or even like little slots to keep all the usbs safe and in place. the idea of consolidating the usbs is a good one though

I agree with GeekSugar. The minimal white box and design appeals to me, but I also saw it as a blank canvas that you could decorate.

From a practical standpoint, there are lots of easier and smarter ways to store your everyday photographs or files. But I like the idea of capturing a experience or a moment in your life and storing it in something tangible.

I think its cute...but do we really have to pay for a box with flash drives in it?? Isn't this something that we could just do ourselves. (I'm sure there are at least 685855868 things that would qualify in that category...but stay with me) The Girl Scout in me wants to decorate my own box and throw my flash drives (and other storage media) in one place, and use a sharpie to write on my flash drives.

    I like it.
I mean, you could just get any box,
but I like the idea of something neat and white
(because it matches most of my gadgets)
    to lay on my desk...
