Doctor Who Season 6 Episodes Recap

A standout from the season is this episode written by legendary science fiction writer Neil Gaiman. The Doctor meets the soul of the TARDIS, temporarily housed within a woman's body. Despite what the Doctor has said in the past about stealing the time machine, it's revealed the TARDIS actually chose him, certain he'd take her on fantastical adventures through time.

To handle toxic acid, flesh people dopplegangers are created so that human researchers won't suffer any physical harm from the chemicals. Turns out the flesh people have the same memories, emotions, and life stories as their human counterparts and wish to be included in the lives they know the love. Amy has her own run-in with a flesh Doctor and must reconsider if humans should have the power to determine the fate of this almost-human species.

After learning Amy and Rory's daughter is kidnapped, their search for her takes the trio to 1930s Berlin, despite the knowledge that she grows up to become River Song. We witness River regenerate into her familiar incarnation, with one difference, she was brainwashed throughout life to kill the Doctor. The Ponds start to understand what their unorthodox version of life with their daughter includes, while the Doctor and River's love story begins.

A creepy, though child-friendly episode reiterates that Doctor Who is truly an adventure story for all ages. The Doctor saves a little boy from the monsters that keep him awake at night, and helps his dad accept the unusual truths about his son. The giant porcelain doll villains will never let you look at a dollhouse in an innocent light again.

It's Amy's turn to shine in a rather unfortunate way, as she is unintentionally left in a sped up time stream on an exotic planet where she ends living on her own for decades while on constant alert for dangerous Handbots. The return of Rory and the Doctor to save her makes Amy choose destiny for herself; she must die to let the young Amy go on and lead the life they deserve with Rory in a normal time on Earth. Though the Handbots roaming the planet will kill her on contact, the real obstacle is Amy's weary, cynical future self.

As the Doctor gets closer to confronting his death that we first saw on the Utah lake, he goes on a farewell tour saying goodbye to friends met in the previous season, like Craig. With Craig's baby, little Stormageddon along for the ride, the Doctor saves a town from Cyberman destruction before taking one last ride on the TARDIS to meet his fate. Some clever threads are woven into the episode, such as Craig being the one to give the Doctor his cool Stetson and the return of the Ponds via perfume advertisement.
