Google's Latest Doodle Shows Support For LGBT Rights
Google debuted a new doodle on Thursday that not only celebrates the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but also shows support to the LGBT athletes participating in the Games. The striking rainbow-colored image is accompanied by a quote from the official Olympic Charter that reads, "The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."
There's been no shortage of Olympic controversy leading up to these Games, and with just one day until the opening ceremony, Google seems to be making a bold statement against Russia's anti-LGBT-propaganda law — the same doodle and translated quote also appears on the main page for Google Russia. What do you think of the new doodle and Google's support of LGBT athletes?
