The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off last night with their awards gala attended by some of the most acclaimed stars of the year. They screened Dustin Hoffman's new movie
Last Chance Harvey and honored Hoffman, Sean Penn, and the cast of
Revolutionary Road among others. Thankfully a
sun-kissed from Cabo Leo made the trek to represent his movie.
Doubt is a tense, thought-provoking and incredibly well-written play, and it must be difficult to adapt such a dense play for the big screen. With a play there's the understanding that we're somewhat confined in terms of location and there's often a lot of talking and emoting. The film adaptation of Doubt is pretty much entirely talking and emoting.

Thanks to the
18th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, we got a glimpse of five sleek red carpet looks. Penelope Cruz turned out in a sophisticated and demure Lanvin look. Rachel Weisz went for asymmetrical stripes in Narciso Rodriguez.

Movie award season kicked off last night in NYC with the 2008 Gotham Awards. We should get used to seeing some of these winners names and some of these familiar faces when the New Year comes along and Award Season really gets rolling, but for now the group took the red carpet to start honoring each other. While Frozen River took home the top honors, Michelle Williams and Penelope Cruz both had reasons to smile.

Look of the Day — Amy Adams Adams paired edgy accessories with a ladylike, bow-covered dress at an LA screening of her new movie, Doubt. The actress accented her pale dress with Louboutin platform peep-toes, Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds, and a VBH python clutch.

Ben Stiller was joined by his friends and family last night for the Museum of the Moving Image's salute to the actor at Cipriani in NYC. Christine Taylor looked gorgeous in basic black while Ben's
Night at the Museum 2 costar Amy Adams stood out in her white sheath dress. His upcoming movie may not be the only sequel Ben has on his agenda — apparently there have been rumblings of a
third Meet the Parents movie.

Meryl Streep is one seriously versatile actress, and her latest role in
Doubt is a far cry from her rendition of the all-singing all-dancing single mum in Mamma Mia.
Set in 1964 in the Bronx, the film is based on John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Meryl plays Sister Aloysius, the Principal of a Catholic school who believes in the power of fear and discipline.
