I'm all about change when it has to do with evolving and improving, but seriously — first Strawberry Shortcake gets totally transformed (I love Strawberry Shortcake Gen 1 much better), and now Sanrio is coming out with new characters called Cherinacherine that bear a striking resemblance to Hello Kitty?!

OK, so I've kinda been slacking in the Hello Kitty department lately, but that doesn't mean Hello Kitty needs some younger and plushier competition! I guess Sanrio will be releasing Cherinacherine bags, toys, cell phone straps and all the other goodies that we'll use to come in HK. . . this is just the beginning folks! I'm scared to see what's next!

Sanrio and Epson Collide to Create Hello Kitty Laptop!

Look, I'm not about to tell grown women what they can and can't have on their laptops, so here you go: the Hello Kitty laptop by Epson. Sure, I might advise you to just put Hello Kitty stickers on your laptop and save the extra money and trouble of buying a new one (although if Sanrio is working with Epson, I'd hope there'd be some sweet games built in at least), but I am officially not judging. After all, I'm finding it slightly more palatable than the Swarovski crystal-covered Hello Kitty laptop!

But if you do buy this laptop (available in Japan and currently about $1,400 with the exchange rate), I want to know what Hello Kitty crap is hiding inside!

It's definitely a psychedelic candy-colored overload, so proceed with caution. Hello Kitty makes her return with the Okwap C150T mobile phone which surprisingly boasts some incredible features. This GSM handset not only comes with a built-in media player but a ton of Hello Kitty themes and backgrounds as well. Featured on GeekAlerts, the C150T also includes a two-megapixel camera, unlike the Beyonce phone which only has a 1.3-megapixel camera. For all of you HK fans, you'll have to go to Taiwan to get one of these phones. No word on pricing just yet. It kinda reminds me of a decked out Sony Ericsson with Hello Kitty decals.

I don't know if I would go as far to say that this is a new and improved Hello Kitty mouse, but I will say it is one of the smaller models on the market. Like so many other peripherals, this mouse easily connects to your computer via a cute USB cord. I'm assuming that the bow operates as both left and right click buttons as the scroll wheel is right in the center. Displayed on Chip Chick this optical mouse costs $10 at DealExtreme. I see a lot of Hello Kitty gadgets everyday, but I never considered what it might be like to be the parent or spouse of a pink-obsessed fairy princess until I became a fan of Hello Kitty Hell. The site was created by the husband of a Hello Kitty fanatic as an attempt to process, cope and poke fun at his wife's obsession. He posts all the smiley pink goodness he can find, like this 24-karat gold, Swarovski crystal beads covered Hello Kitty Business card case that costs $225.

Hello Kitty Scale: Good For A Laugh

There usually isn't anything funny about stepping on to a scale, unless it's the celebrity scale that weighs you against Goldie Hawn, John Candy or King Kong, but the Hello Kitty Body Fat Meter is a real hoot. Surprisingly, it looks like the device is more than just pink and cute, as it comes in a set of handy devices and offers illustrations on the monitor that guide you through with the calculation of body fat.

It ships with a D-041-KT device, which is a numeric value health meter, a HA-011-KT to display analog values and the KA-011-KT, which is a cooking scale. The Hello Kitty Body Fat Meter launched June 1, for 6,000 Yen (or $50 USD), but I haven't found a US store that sells it yet. Don't worry, I'll keep looking because somehow the idea of Hello Kitty monitoring my body fat seems less invasive than a doctor or trainer. Or maybe I'll just keep looking because it gives me a good giggle.

When I saw these tiny cute Hello Kitty cell phone charms on Chip Chick I couldn't help but add it to my list of favorite Hello Kitty accessories! Trust me, these charms are small enough that they won't scream "I'm obsessed with Hello Kitty," but in all honesty, does that matter anyway? They are priced at around $13 and come in a pack of six different colors so you can mix and match. What do you think? Overly kitchy or just the right touch of this fictional curious cat.

If you weren't able to get your hands on the Mitsubishi Hello Kitty Car, maybe you'll settle for the next best thing - a Hello Kitty iPod car charger and FM transmitter! It's not a pink Cadillac cruisin' down the street, it's a pink “Princess Kitty” Mitsubishi drivin' down the freeway. This limited edition Hello Kitty car - limited meaning one and only one was made in Tokyo last year - is entirely pink with matching wheels, making it prime geeksugar talk. The Hello Kitty trademark ribbon logo is splattered on the front doors and roof, while the rear doors get a “Princess Kitty” graphic with the lovable cartoon character’s face. Both back window and side view mirrors also get a Hello Kitty face decal as well. According to autoblog.com, one lucky buyer got to purchase the car for ¥2,100,000 ($18,200), with most of the proceeds going to Japan's UNICEF. Seems like a good price for a unique Hello Kitty car? Would you have to be a total geek to drive one of these?

Last weekend I was helping one of my girlfriends pick out a new digital camera - it's a tragic tale, but she spilled Diet Coke on the inside of her purse and wrecked her iPod and camera! - and we noticed that Best Buy has a whole Hello Kitty section filled with cameras, flash drives and cell covers. Naturally, there are those people that love Hello Kitty, those that hate Hello Kitty and those of us in between.

For all those in-betweeners, the Hello Kitty and Charming Kitty USB device is there to satisfy your pink needs without overwhelming you or anyone around you. They are $42.05 online, but you can get others at Best Buy for a bit less. Tip: When it comes to flash drives, the difference in price is almost always correlated to the amount of space on the drive. You should expect to pay more for more space.

When it comes to USB gadgets there is no telling what tomorrow will bring. There are some functional items, some fun items and some things that make you go wooow! The Hello Kitty USB Foot Warmers seem to be a mixture of all of the above. But are they chic? Much like the USB Cape/Blanket number we featured recently, the USB foot warmers just have to be plugged in to a USB port on your computer, PSP, etc. and they will generate heat from the port to your toesies.

Best Hello Kitty Gadgets?

I'll admit it, I am a recovering Hello Kitty addict. When I was 5, my parents wanted me to only play with cloth and wooden toys so every time my mom and I would pass by the Hello Kitty store in San Francisco I would peer into a world I thought I was missing out on. At the time, it seemed like torture. Today, I know better. While there are literally hundreds of thousands of Hello Kitty products out there - from rice cookers, irons, flash drives, hubcaps, fans and speakers to cameras. One drawback for Hello Kitty lovers is that only a fraction of them are licensed, and an even smaller fraction are available in the US, so that can be hard to come by in mainstream stores.

Some of the best (and by best I sort of mean "worst") gadgets, like this Hello Kitty cell phone are available in the U.S., but for a price. For $599.99 this phone, which features a camera that can take still images or video clips in various sizes and qualities, supports picture messaging, GPS and WAP. To me, Hello Kitty items are chic, but in that counter-culture "I'm totally cute and indie, but I still love it" kind of way, but when I saw this soon-to-be-released Hello Kitty iPod Alarm Clock I stopped in my tracks. When did Hello Kitty get so savvy? This stereo clock radio and recharging station for iPod mini and nano can link your iPod with video and iPod photo players to a TV Set, has an FM/AM radio, LCD function display and will wake you up to your iPod, radio or buzzer. (It also features an auxiliary input jack for connecting other MP3 or digital music players.) I imagine the sound isn't a great as an iHome or the new Luna iPod alarm clock, but it's pretty and pink.
