David Cook Makes Sure His MacBook Pro Gets Safely Stowed

I had a kid come up to me once at an airport to tell me that the handle on my guitar (Guitar Hero guitar, that is) could pop down for easier transportation. So I'm wondering if American Idol winner David Cook has a mini guitar hiding in that backpack — I mean, we did see him shake his groove thang during a game of GH, so I guess he potentially could. But then again, I know how much he travels with his real guitar.

Regardless of what gaming toys he has tucked away, it's obvious that he really is a Mac boy, which I didn't know for sure, even though contestants were decked out with Apple gear during the last season of AI. Let's just hope he didn't enroll in the TSA's Clear-to-Fly Program. And BTW, that is AI alum Kimberly Caldwell behind him!

Remember when I asked you guys what computer you thought Carrie Bradshaw should use in the Sex and the City movie, and I teased that I thought I could see it in one of the trailers? Well, my hunch was right: Carrie carries a MacBook Pro in the movie!

You actually voted that she should start using the ultra-stylin' MacBook Air if she was going to abandon her trusty PowerBook, but I love that she has a Pro (it's my machine too) — not to mention that the Air wasn't available at the time of the filming.

The rumors have been swirling that Apple will announce a new and improved MacBook Pro tomorrow. Allow me to set the record straight. . . . According to my Apple insiders, Apple will unveil both a new MacBook Pro and a new MacBook tomorrow. Both will look the exact same (unfortunately no pretty new colors), although they will feature upgraded processors, additional memory, and the lovely multitouch trackpad that is featured on the Air. The Hills Gadget Gear Recap So Far...

For those of you who happened to miss it, no need to worry because last night's episode of The Hills was a recap show... you know the one where they summarize all episodes to build anticipation for next week's episode? So while we take a commercial break from our regular "Hills" broadcast, let's do a quick gadget-gear recap to make sure we are on top of our tech knowledge thus far. I'm sure you've all been paying close attention to the glamorous gadgetry this season, especially with our weekly tech quizzes, but if you're just tuning in, here are a few favorites so far.Surprisingly, we've learned that Spencer is quite the Apple fan, spending days on his MacBook (does he even have a job?) and nights on his iPhone. Audrina mixed it up this season with her lovely white Pearl, which she used to keep in touch with her on-again, off-again musician boyfriend Justin Bobby. Clooney Is A BlackBerry and a Mac Guy

You'd think by the way George Clooney is carrying his MacBook Pro in these pictures that he has quite the love/hate relationship with his gadgets—don't do it George, don't drop it! Is his stylin' messenger bag not big enough to hold his laptop? Given the fact he was on the way back to his hotel after filming in NYC, I'm not going to give him a hard time about not protecting the goods. Heck, I always leave work carrying my laptop in my arms. At least he's not trying to pull a Pete Doherty who likes to walk and videotape at the same time with his MacBook! I'm sure he loves the fact that his MacBook Pro has some serious power, is great for editing photos and videos and only weighs about 5-6 pounds—talk about a major upgrade from his 1933 BlackBerry!

New Mercury Free MacBook Pro Unboxed!

I got my hands on the new MacBook Pro first thing this morning and saying everyone around me is gushing and jealous is an understatement. Unlike last year's model, the new MacBook Pro has a mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display. I am a little shocked to report that there seems to be a visible difference between the two displays, and it's not just due to the fact that my old laptop is covered in fingerprints and a bit of dust. The screen seems much brighter.

The new MacBook Pro's mercury-free status is a huge jump for Apple, who has been a consistent low ranker on Greenpeace's Electronics Guide and has taken some blows for not being as green as it can be. I'd write more, but I'm kinda busy obsessing over my new love.
