I'm just sayin', you could literally be on your way to the salon when you realize that you don't know what kind of new style or hair color you want. Though I plan on getting this app, iStylist, just to see how I'd look with Reese Witherspoon's bob or Posh's pixie, and show whoever is nearest to me how fab (or fug) I'd look with a new do.

It's $2, but that's a small price to pay for realizing how washed out your complexion looks with that color you were thinking about before the peroxide hits your head.

Cell Phone Dermatology: The Face Rash

I'm totally paranoid about my face and am always trying to clean off my germy cell phones where they touch me, but it sounds like a bacteria-induced breakout is the least of my problems: Apparently the nickel used in many handsets can cause irritation anywhere you're touching it, like your cheek or even your fingers, just from typing.

It sounds like it's more of an issue with prolonged use, so if you're starting to get an itchy face — AKA "mobile phone dermatitis," then maybe you should whip out your headset if you can't bring yourself to decrease your cell phone use. Anyone else feel itchy just from reading about this?

Nintendo DS Teams Up With Shiseido Makeup

My Nintendo DS knows the contours of my thumbs very well — why shouldn't it know the contours of my face? In late November, when Project Beauty launches, it will. Project Beauty, the result of a collaboration between Shiseido and Nintendo DS, is a DS game that will recognize your face from a scan, and will then make beauty product recommendations for you (probably Shiseido products).

Wouldn't it be great if you could get cell-phone apps like this, too? It would certainly make your morning a little easier, even if it's just to tell you, yes, you do look toe-up today.

Remember when you were going through puberty and your mom tried to make you feel better by saying that zits aren't permanent? Did you remind her about pictures? Because photographs are forever, and zits shouldn't be. I don't have any great tips for prevention (go to Bella for that), but I do have some good post-production advice: Photoshop!

Since so many of you copped to using Photoshop to improve pics of yourself in some way, I though I'd share my favorite tool for getting rid of zits. You just need basic familiarity with Photoshop to do this, so step into my lab of narcissism!

Moisturizing Air Conditioner: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

I would love to be able to give up my expensive lotion habit and put that money toward a new flat screen TV (or shoes, whatever), but I have a hard time believing this air conditioner from Hitachi (found by the one and only Mr. Frucci) could replace my beloved Aveda, Kiehl's, Jergens, etc. (what? different parts) and moisturize my skin.But then again, you can't argue with science. Hitachi claims this A/C "condenses moisture in the air with a Peltier device and applies high voltage to the water to produce electrically-charged minute water particles. The particles attach to the skin and, with moisture in the air attracted by the electric charge, soak into it." Interesting, but is it total dorkdom to use your home appliances as your beauty regimen, or would you put this in your house and kill two birds with one stone?Source

Beauty and the Geek: Even Makeup Has Taken Blu-ray's Side

First Netflix chooses Blu-ray, now makeup manufacturers are! Recently Bella alerted us to Cargo makeup's subtle entrance into the tech world with their new line of products, including a mattifier, powder, mascara, gloss, and highlighter, that have been specifically formulated for use by makeup artists on the set of high-definition shoots. The line is called "blu_ray" — it's interesting that they used an underscore instead of the official hyphen of the real Blu-ray, plus, this naming is just the latest visitor to HD-DVD's funeral.

The high definition of HDTV and Blu-ray is otherwise exciting: It looks amazing! But, uh, my sensitivity as a woman skews my view a little, ever since I heard that actresses have been freaking out since the advent of this technology — you can see everything on an actor's face — wrinkles, makeup, acne — and many people have responded by seeking our more Botox and other plastic surgery to make up for it. Yikes! Here's hoping the makeup works, ladies.

Don't rely on brutally honest little kids and loved ones to tell you when you have bad breath — let technology do it for you! I have no idea how this Halitosis Detector works, but it's definitely appealing to my deepest insecurities. For just $11 (on sale from $25!), this little gizmo somehow measures your breath in four different stages of stinkiness. I'm guessing the horrified icon screaming, "Wait!" on display is the worst. What do you say, use the covert breathing-into-your-hand trick, or would you trust this gadget to have your back?

MP3 Player That Gives Facials Too

I am going to have to ask Bella what she thinks of this because I am speechless. The Mpion is an MP3 player that gives users a facial while they listen to music. According to Digital World Tokyo, for the equivalent of $170 the mpion delivers a 1998-style 128MB of memory device that can hold about 32 tracks. The upside? A negative ion generator on the back of the player supposedly cleans your skin and pores better than your average soap and water, a notion that isn't exactly scientifically proven. I'd say this one falls in the negative section of the chic meter, but it's a humorous concept nonetheless.
