I know the Diana Dreamer Camera had a lot of fans when I posted it, both for its romantic results and its vintage styling, and now Urban Outfitters has introduced a custom-fit case for it, the Diana Case ($38). It's totally hot (built-in tripod hole!) and totally leather.

I've been looking for cases that conform to camera lenses since I saw Sienna Miller rocking one a few months ago, and the Diana Leather Case is my hippie-chic answer!

Oh happy, happy day — well, happy, happy Friday, that is! My mood matches the bright and cheery patent leather camera cases that Neiman Marcus is dishing out for $75 a pop.I know some people aren't fans of patent leather, but me? I'm a fan. Add to that the vivid, cheery colors of these cases — such that pulling them out of your bag would cause whiplash from your girlfriends — and I'm a goner. What do you think?

What's the Weirdest Thing You've Used As a Case?

I'm all for creatively re-appropriating bags for laptops, cameras and phones — especially since the variety of what's put in there is not exactly what you want. And I know when you're waiting for a case, you might have to use a somewhat subpar substitute. . . So when my cousin pulled this (her digital camera case) out of her purse to take a picture of us the other night, I was speechless:

That's right, friends. Her camera case is a sock. A really cute ballerina sock, but a sock nonetheless. After I could breathe again after laughing and telling her I'd forward her some more suitable cases for her camera, I was informed by others that socks are often used to tuck digital cameras into. Is this true?!

Am I the only one who didn't know about this? I'm dumbfounded. Have you ever used something weird for a camera or phone case out of desperation?

Finding the perfect camera case can be a daunting task. First you have to decide if you want a case that fits into a purse, or if you can settle for a case that doubles as a wallet as well. Then there are size issues, and making sure the case will protect your camera plus finding something that is reasonably priced. During CES, I happened to have the chance to check out some of Kodak's new cases, which expand on their fashion camera bag series line. The cases are tiny, fashionable and are not exclusive to Kodak cameras. The fact that you could use one by itself or throw it in a purse is a double bonus. And with other Kodak cases priced in the $15 to $25 range, I'm sure these ones will be equally inexpensive! Keep checking back to the Kodak site for purchasing info.

If you like dressing up your gadgets like me, you'll be happy to know that Kodak will soon be expanding its product line by introducing beaded wrist straps and bags for its camera. As mentioned on Crave, the straps and bags are said to come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. Each bag includes a handy compartment that will snugly fit a camera and has slide-in holders for SD cards. Larger bags will boast an extra pocket for cell phones. Thanks to TeamSugar user bubbaincal for bookmarking this funky pink Vituri camera satchel. At first glance, you may think this satchel is a handbag, but if you look inside you'll realize that it is fully lined for camera protection. There is also an adjustable velcro padded compartment and mesh pockets for memory cards etc. If your camera is fairly small, you can also use this satchel as a wallet or purse as it has credit card slots, pen loops and a detachable key snap. I'd definitely spend $35 on this Vituri satchel, would you?

How To Sew a Camera Case

You readers found some great camera cases for PartySugar and myself last week, but if you didn't immediately order one of the Neiman Marcus Snapshot cases or of the Panda Digital Camera Case, you might consider making your own simple case until you find one you want to buy...or as a substitute for buying one.

Craftzine sparked my attention by sharing a great tutorial to make a simple fabric snap close camera case that can be modeled to any camera and would make a great Mother's Day gift for mom. Check out the full tutorial here.

Geek Gear: Great Camera Case

Last week I admitted that PartySugar and I each received amazing Canon PowerShot cameras as gifts recently and have been protecting them by carrying them in less than chic - and 100 percent ineffective cases. I asked you readers to help us each find a small, colorful, chic camera case for less than $70 and boy did you guys deliver. The finds were amazing, and opened my eyes to all the great designers out there.

It was hard to choose my favorites, but PrissyLilBadAss and wrtrgrl each found these delightful Neiman Marcus Snapshot cases - they range in price from $50 to $55, and fit our criteria perfectly. The cases come in cocoa perforated Ultrasuede with turquoise leather trim, cranberry floral-embossed nubuck, or emerald floral-embossed leather. They have a detachable wristlet (one of my most needed features) and best of all, look like a sturdy yet elegant way to wrap up our favorite device.

PartySugar and I have been bad. Real bad. We both received beautiful Canon PowerShot cameras as gifts recently and have been protecting them by carrying them in less than chic - and 100 percent ineffective cases - in fact, her camera's screen suffered a giant scratch last week while in her purse.

I've pounded the pavement recently looking for colorful, chic and petite cases that will fit in our purses and, of course protect our cameras from future scratches, but haven't found the right case. So, let's all go check out geek gear across the web and see if we can find a nice case with a small cord and a secure closure method like this Marc Jacobs case. Neither one of use wants to spend $195, but can you help us find a small, colorful, chic camera case for less than $70?
