Happy Father's Day to all the fabulous fathers out there. Ever wonder why gadgets seem to be the no-brainer gift of choice for
dads on Father's Day? According to the
National Retail Federation, 17.8 percent of the $9.9 billion dollars of money spent on Father's Day presents will go towards consumer electronics - with
High Def TVs topping many gift lists this year.

Earlier this week I asked you to
geek out and share what you are getting, or would like to get, your dad for Father's Day. The results of the mission suggest there are going to be a lot of happy dads out there this weekend.
Your top picks included digital cameras, video cameras, digital photo frames and even a
Toshiba DVD/VCR combo.

It seems to be a universal truth that dads love geeky gifts - from robots, camcorders, speaker systems to plasma screens - there are very few gadgets that any dad I know would turn down. With Father's Day on the horizon, this is the week to start thinking about what you are getting your dad or father figure. He's probably the person who bought you your first Walkman or Discman afterall.

One thing’s for certain, I get my geekiness from my dad’s side of the family. So, whenever I get him a gift, I know he’s going to be all read up on its stats, ratings and all-around hipness. This means I have to try extra hard to stump him and find things he might not know about.
