I'm not in the habit of calling my alarm clocks sexy (mostly because I've developed a hate-hate relationship with mine), but this is definitely the exception.
The
Vers 1.5R ($200) is more than an alarm clock though; it's an iPod dock, an AM/FM tuner, it has a 3.5mm AUX-out port for other MP3 players, and it's all crammed neatly into a tiny package, complete with a 15-watt speaker.
Although I love what it does, I also love how it looks.

I remain somewhat impressed by
Pottery Barn's tech accessories, because even when they're overpriced, they usually hit the
right style mark.
The
Simple Dock in particular, is no exception; not only is it pretty nice looking (though my thoughts are still in conflict over whether I like the faux leather), but the size is great for a smaller place or desk. Which brings me to my next point; iPod docks these days keep showing up with so many bells and whistles and extras, and sometimes you — or a person you might want to give it to you — don't need all that.

I usually associate Skullcandy with
badass-looking headphones, but they also make equally cool-looking iPod accessories, like this
Pipe iPod Dock ($90).
It may be less eco than the
Vers iPod Dock I posted last week, but it has a similar look with its wood grain. And even if you've given up your iPod Classic in favor of an iPhone, Skullcandy's model is also iPhone compatible!

I'm stoked about the future of technology and design, because I'm witnessing products now that look like my favorite futuristic movies that I watched back in the day! From sleek
cell phones to
high tech beds to lounge on, concept design is becoming an obsession of mine. Although this little gadget performs a well known function, you might not be able to tell by its design.
