Ann Druyan Interview

Carl Sagan's Wife Talks Her Hopes and Dreams For Cosmos 2.0

In 1977, Ann Druyan was the creative director on the Golden Record project, an initiative to send a mixtape of human images and sounds into the galaxy aboard Voyager. That mission was spearheaded by the one, the only Carl Sagan, who eventually became Ann's husband. Together, Carl and Ann wrote the original Cosmos series in 1980 — a program that Ann is reviving with Neil deGrasse Tyson as Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, which airs Sunday nights on Fox.

She's the creator and executive producer of the sequel, charged with carrying on Carl's legacy into the modern age. At SXSW, we spoke to Ann about her hopes and dreams for Cosmos 2.0.
