Google Doodle For Valentine's Day

Man, those allergy pollens must be working overtime today, because our eyes are feeling a little . . . weepy. But it could also be that today's Google Doodle is the company's most heartwarming yet.

The search giant teamed up with This American Life, a long-form storytelling radio show and podcast from WBEZ Chicago, to craft seven mini love stories for the Google homepage. Of course, there are only six letters in "Google" and one story was axed, but curious listeners can still listen to the little fable on the program's website.

Each candied heart features an audio clip and an animation that, at first glance, may not seem all that compelling. The stories, however, are very touching and emotionally charged. One is about two best friends who missed several opportunities to have their first kiss, and another contemplates the thought of eventually losing the love of your life to death.

The most moving tale was about a woman who seriously doubted her marriage the day after her wedding and fled her home to contemplate the decision. When she returned, her husband was awaiting her arrival, concerned. Now, 42 years later, the couple is still married, and she hasn't doubted the relationship since.
