How to Stream the Oscars Online

For the First Time Ever, You Can Live Stream the Oscars

Hoping to live stream the Oscars on Sunday? There's good news — sort of.

For the first time in its 86-year history, ABC plans to show the Academy Awards online and on mobile through its Watch ABC app.

The catch? In order to access the live feed, you must have a TV subscription service (through Comcast, AT&T U-verse, Verizon FiOS, Cablevision, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, Midcontinent Communications, or Google Fiber).

Sure, you must have a contract for it to work, but it's a good option if, say, you want to watch the show at a friend's house with no cable.

Watch actors like Matthew McConaughey continue their award season winning streak or get nods for the first time through the live stream on ABC.com and Oscar.com or via the Watch ABC app for iOS and Android.

And after the Oscars air, all viewers can catch the whole show on the ABC app until March 5. At least it's something.

Of course, you should also tune in to our own live red carpet coverage starting at 3 p.m. PST before we head in studio for the show!
