I joined up hoping to hear an answer to this question. i'm currently scanning all my old photos via my iPad (using a Brookstone scanner = AWEsome!) and sorting via iPhoto. I don't want to loose the captions written on the back of the old pics. I know you can type in the "description" portion but would enjoy it more if they were directly underneath.
