Matt Smith Suits Up in American Psycho the Musical

Matt Smith kicked off his first post-Doctor Who role this week, taking to the stage in London as murderous yuppie Patrick Bateman in the American Psycho musical, based on Brett Easton Ellis's satirical, though disturbing, take on '80s consumerism in the book of the same name. Sure, it "sounds like the worst idea for a musical in history," but that's kind of why fans are so curious to see how the dark violence of the 2000 Christian Bale movie translates to something as seemingly happy-go-lucky as a musical. Plus, the character considers himself something of an '80s cheesy music connoisseur, which is given a nod in the songs written by Duncan Sheik.

The show runs through February 2014 and unsurprisingly thanks to its hit star, is totally sold out. If you weren't able to get tickets, or, you know, can't fly to London right now, take a peek at Matt like you've never seen him before in more official production and rehearsal photos. Oh, yes, the infamous business card scene is definitely included. See the photos after the jump.
