Southwest In-Flight Entertainment
Southwest Introduces Free TV on All Flights
Cross-country plane rides are getting a bit more entertaining this week, as budget airline Southwest, known for its no-fuss approach to travel, announced its new in-flight experience: free live and on-demand TV in partnership with the Dish Network. Unlike how many airlines show in-flight entertainment through individual screens on the back of each seat, Southwest's new live TV is streamed to passengers' device of choice. Using a laptop, phone, or tablet, customers can sign in to the on-board WiFi for access to the Dish Network programming.
Southwest insists the streaming media won't interfere with the WiFi customers' purchase for email and Internet access. The new media offering includes 13 channels (Bravo, Food Network, HGTV, and the Travel Channel are just a few) along with access to over 50 TV show episodes for on-demand viewing.
While you're planning how to stave off boredom during your next flight, don't forget to follow our checklist of the gadgets and accessories to pack for Summer travels.
