Nokia Refocus App

Nokia's Refocus App Captures the Entire Light Field, Like a Lytro Camera

Getting that close-up, macro blurred effect while shooting takes skill. With a new app called Nokia Refocus, mobile photographers don't need to get an image's focus right the first time. Using the concept of Lytro cameras, the app can be used to refocus an image at any time, even after it is saved to the phone's photo library.

Below is a widget that demonstrates just how Nokia Refocus works — click on various parts of the image to focus, and the app will blur the surroundings.

With devices like the 41-megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020, the company is clearly targeting their phones and apps to the photography set. The new Nokia Refocus app will launch mid-November for all PureView-equipped Lumia Windows Phones running the Lumia Amber operating system.
