Women in Science Mentors

Marvel's Looking For Women in STEM Like Jane Foster

In Thor, Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, is an astrophysicist who's consumed by her love of the cosmos (and Thor). Marvel is looking for the future real-life Jane Foster, a young woman in high school pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, or math. Sound like that could be you? Selected participants will join the The Ultimate Mentor Adventure, which will pair students with successful professional women in STEM fields.

Before the release of Thor: The Dark World, Marvel's hoping to invite girls in ninth through 12th grades to California to meet professional women in STEM through a partnership with the National Academy of Science and Underwriters Laboratories.

To apply, download this form and submit it by Oct. 20, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. The application involves interviewing a woman in STEM in your hometown. If one isn't within your reach, refer to this map of mentors around the US.

After the interview, candidates must create a five-minute unedited video about their similarities to Jane Foster, their interview with a woman in a STEM field, next career steps, and what they would learn from participating in Marvel's Ultimate Mentor Adventure.
