When you have a million things to do at the office, it's easy to forget things you need to remember. Like that proposal you were supposed to review and send back by today. Whoops!

Even though I love Google Reader, it is far too easy to get overwhelmed by the number of unread items that show up in my feed. Seriously, even if I spent all day just reading blog posts, I don't think I'd be able to get to them all. This is why I love Read It Later, the Firefox plugin that allows you to mark items in your reader that you'd like to come back to.

You can help the planet by unplugging your gadgets when they aren't in use, trading in your used video games for cash instead of tossing them in the landfill, and even repurposing your ink cartridges if you're on the crafty side. But what do you do with the gadgets and gizmos you just don't want to deal with anymore — like all those CDs you've added into your digital library?
Obviously, you can donate them or drop them off at the appropriate recycling center!

Nowadays, I only buy a new video game if it's something I absolutely cannot wait to play — Heavy Rain or Alan Wake, anyone? Since a used game is at least 30 percent cheaper than its new version, I end up saving a ton of money that I can use on important things like, you know, more games. Most of you are with me too: 74 percent of GeekSugar readers also hit the used bins for games.

This useful tip comes courtesy of the Flickr blog, which just displayed a gorgeous variety of photos from California's recent Maverick Surf Competition. The competition was held several miles south of my home city of San Francisco, but I missed the excitement this year. Luckily, there was no shortage of beautiful photographs taken during the event, and after using Flickr's advanced search page, I was able to find hundreds.

You can quickly search all the contents of your iPhone 3GS (including emails) with the Spotlight feature, but where's the Spotlight for your BlackBerry?
There isn't one, but if you need to find a specific email fast, you can use this handy shortcut. While you're in your BlackBerry's email folder, hit "S" and enter in any pertinent info; like sender, or keyword that could have been in the subject line.

If you aren't in music discovery overload just yet, then check out TuneGlue — a site that expands your musical knowledge base by the artists you already know. I put the name of my current favorite, Little Dragon, in the search box, then clicked on the icon to expand and show me artists I may like as well. Like Pandora's music suggestion service, TuneGlue gives you, well, the glue to piece your musical life together.

I got this frantic text from a friend last night: "I just spilled tea on my MacBook Pro and now it won't turn on. I think it's gone." While my initial reaction was the same as hers (cry), I instinctively told her to take out the battery (which hadn't gotten wet), dry off the laptop as much as she could, and pop the whole thing in a bag of rice.

I learned a new series of postures in my yoga class last week that I think every geek, gamer, and programmer needs to know about. We were just finishing up the session with a traditional pose, but before the class ended, we did five minutes of eye yoga. The exercises help relax the eyes, reduce eye strain, and are even supposed to help improve vision by strengthening your eye muscles. After doing these in class, my eyes definitely felt more relaxed. Bring on the all night gaming sessions!

If you can't make it to the planetarium, don't fret — just point your browser to Wikisky, and you'll probably get a more in-depth look at distant galaxies than you would at any planetarium anyway. I've already introduced you to Stellarium, which brings the stars to you in a desktop app, but Wikisky takes things a step further by letting you zoom in on faraway stars, Google Map style.
However, Wikisky is pretty complex and will take some fiddling around with to get the right view of space, but once you do, you'll find images of neighboring galaxies like the one pictured here.
